Genki Sudo

Genki Sudo, born March 8, 1978 is a former Japanese kickboxer and mixed martial artist. While prolific in his martial arts, Genki has risen to fame recently over his music. In addition to being a musician, Genki is also an essayist, actor, and dancer.

Genki had a profuse martial art career, going 16-4-1 in his 7 year career. Yet found little success in his kickboxing going 2-4. After retiring from martial arts Genki has kept busy writing 8 books and has gotten married since. Of course while all these could be considered to be great successes in their own right, they are currently overshadowed by his current project.

World Order is a musical group with Genki Sudo as its main singer and backed up by 6 others. Releasing their first single in 2006, it would be 3 years for them to release their next single. In July 2010 World Order finally released a full album self titled WORLD ORDER. World Order's style would probably be best classified by electro music but sometimes venturing into vocal trance. Genki not only is the singer, he also writes the lyrics, music, and directs the choreography. Since Genki is a practicing Buddhist, it is clearly reflected in his music, with messages about peace and getting along. Of course it helps his music is quite catchy, yet soothing.

While the music has gained him notoriety, it is the videos that World Order that attracts most of the attention. Not only for the exquisite dancing but also the fact that many of the scenes are all one take are what make watching the videos so interesting. Being able to time the difficult dance moves Genki choreographs while doing it in just one shoot is amazing in and of itself. In addition to that many times, World Order films their music videos in the streets with everyone watching them, leaving no room for mistakes.

World Order's dancing can be best described as a sort of hyper-slow robot. Yet, even this classification does not fully describe the sheer uniqueness of their dancing. Every member moves as a single unit but it all comes together to form something larger and truly awe-inspiring. Two popular videos of World Order are Mind Shift and World Order. Each video shows how great World Order is even if you cannot understand the lyrics.
How can you deny 6 men thrusting their hips for you?

Since the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake in Japan, World Order quickly released Machine Civilization  which described how everyone was there for each other in the time of need. The video was posted a mere 6 days after Japan was still reeling with the after effects of the earthquake and tsunami. Genki Sudo and World Order are true masters of their craft and are spreading their message through their music.
