First true post eh?
Well I guess I'll start off with what I am currently obsessed with at the moment. DJ OZMA is a Japanese pop singer. Although I'm a bit late to the party, I still find his music to be very good. DJ OZMA has released 3 albums, I <3 Party People 1, 2, and 3.Unfortunately, DJ OZMA has officially retired this 'persona' and is now working on other projects (more on that later). The best way to describe his music would be dance music, although there are definitely songs that are outliers in terms of genre.

Many have claimed that DJ OZMA attained fame through stealing Korean pop songs and turning them into Japanese, yet his popularity is not solely based on his music. In actuality, the reason why OZMA was so popular was for his crazy music videos. Some have speculated that the reason DJ OZMA's videos were so extravagant was to annoy the Japanese censorship bureau. His most famous video is DRINKIN'BOYS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hySoCSoH-g8 or Spiderman http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wza9QWogfxQ . If you watch either video, you can see how he could be popular. It is the over the top-ness that makes people enjoy it. And the catchy music helps. Oh and the dancing it must be the dancing. Whatever the reason people enjoyed it.

DJ OZMA, the persona was officially retired in December 2008, so sadly we won't be seeing anything new from him unless he decides to pick it back up. Yet OZMA isn't out of the music business, he is actually working on two projects. Kishidan, a sort of Japanese greasers group (which OZMA was apart of since 1996) and his new project Yazima Beauty Salon. In the future, I'll probably be talking about Yazima due to similar themes to DJ OZMA. So while the DJ persona is retired we can still see new and crazy things OZMA has in store for us.
